The Nordic Watercolour Society encompasses the Nordic countries, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Aland and Finland, but has its seat in Sweden. Its aim is to develop the interest for watercolour art. Membership in NAS is open to all, professional artists as well as leisure painters and the Nordic and non-Nordic general public. The society was founded in 1989 under the influence of Professor Arne Isacsson (1917-2010), and currently counts approx. 1900 members. NAS joined the European Confederation of Watercolour Societies (ECWS) in 2000, and hosted the ECWS International Watercolour Festival in 2007 in Sweden, and in 2013 in Norway. NAS publishes a quarterly magazine displaying high-quality illustrations and articles about Nordic and international watercolour art and artists. Online activities include we site, internet forum, blog, newsletters and facebook pages. We organize juried shows, workshops and networking possibilities for members.
